Buying Online. Business Week published an article on
buying online.
The article focused on buying tires, like trailers an often confusing product with much conflicting information.
Business Week found that shopping online often leads to more information in a straightforward manner than the often conflicting "advice" received from local dealers.
This article described buying tires. Trailers are more complex and confusing than tires to the average buyer. The expertise and recommendations of a local trailer dealer vary. Reluctant to buy a trailer because of concerns over warranty service?
Don’t be. This was a concern raised by our initial customers so we have
addressed it with a passion. Other internet sellers may face that issue. We do
not. Our warranty issues for sales outside our 3 dealerships run at the same
low rate (less than 1%) as the
sales at our dealerships. Our warranty follow up exceeds any other trailer
dealer in the country. How do we do that?
First, Haulmark and Continental Cargo require their
dealers to perform warranty work for all Haulmark trailers.
There are over 1000 factory authorized

River
(Continental Cargo) warranty centers and over 300 factory authorized Haulmark
service centers. Just as a car manufacturer
requires its dealers to service all of its cars wherever they are purchased. We
also have service centers in Chicago,
New Jersey and St. Louis.
Second, we have dedicated warranty specialists who will work
with you to assist in obtaining warranty service for your trailer. We will
assist you in solving the problem, finding a service center and working with
the manufacturer as your advocate. No other dealer who sells over the Internet
can make such a claim.
Third, we sell only the best known national name brand
trailers (beware of internet or local sellers offering a trailer that is not a
national well known name). We find that the few instances in which our trailers
require warranty service, the matter can be fixed fairly easily.
Four, we have an online Better Business Bureau seal of
approval. Check our track record. If you are looking for another trailer
dealer, check out whether they have such a track record.
Finally, we are part of the trailer dealer community. We carry
more inventory than almost any other dealer. We have service departments and
have customer follow up. And we think most of our bricks and mortar competitors

will match any price on any comparably equipped trailer we sell (excluding
freight and taxes if applicable). But that is not the real savings. Truth is
that every reputable trailer dealer has to cover costs and make a profit. You
may be able to find someone selling out of their home or out of a small
dealership selling over the internet who can quote you a better price (but we
will match it if you do).
The real savings come from our volume and knowledge. That $100
savings might not look so good if you are sold a trailer improperly equipped
for your needs. If you are looking to haul two motorcycles or to carry a car
with specialized dimensions or some other need, no one in the country has more
